Connect ideare to an AI app
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI apps can read your brands, save changes to the draft, check them and make posts. Nothing goes public until an owner approves it.
The address
AI apps connect to ideare through MCP, a standard way for an AI app to use another service. Every app below uses this one address:
https://api.ideare.app/mcpWhat you need
- An ideare account, in the workspace whose brands the app will use.
- In Claude and ChatGPT you sign in with your ideare account, so there's no key to copy.
- Claude Code and Cursor take an API key instead. Make one in the studio, under API keys. It starts with
ideare_and shows only once, so copy it right away. Only owners and admins can make keys. - On the free plan every key only reads: the app sees your brands but can't change them. Free holds 1 key, and each app you connect uses one. Pro holds 5, and they can send changes too.
Never paste a key into a chat. It goes in the app's settings and nowhere else.
Claude (desktop and web)
- Open Customize, then Connectors.
- Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it ideare, paste the address and click Continue. Click Continue again on the next screen.
- Under Authentication, pick Sign in now, keep the recommended option and click Add.
- ideare opens in a tab. Sign in, pick the workspace and click Allow.
On Claude's free plan you can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it for everyone in the organization settings, then each person connects.
ChatGPT
On the web, with a paid plan. Turn on developer mode in Settings, under Apps. Then create an app, paste the address and keep OAuth as the way to sign in. ChatGPT opens ideare so you can sign in and allow it, as in Claude.
ChatGPT moves these menus often. If you don't see developer mode, your plan or your workspace admin may not allow it.
Claude Code
In your terminal, with your key in place of ideare_your_key:
claude mcp add --transport http ideare https://api.ideare.app/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer ideare_your_key"Or leave out --header and type /mcp in Claude Code to sign in through your browser instead.
Cursor
Put this in ~/.cursor/mcp.json, the file in your home folder, so the key never ends up in a project's git:
{
"mcpServers": {
"ideare": {
"url": "https://api.ideare.app/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ideare_your_key"
}
}
}
}Most other apps that take a remote MCP server read this same shape.
Your first request
Ask your app:
Show me my ideare brand crumb-crust.
It calls get_brand with one argument, the brand's slug:
{"slug":"crumb-crust"}You get the brand back: its name, colors, fonts and logo, and its share card once it has an approved version.
The slug is the part after ideare.app/b/ in the address of the brand's public page. Don't know it? Ask "Which ideare brands do I have?" first.
What the app can do
These are the app's tools, by job. It picks which one to use: you just ask in your own words.
Read your brands
Your brands, their draft, their approved versions and files, the files your team uploaded, and the credits left. Reading costs nothing.

Change the draft and ask for approval
Start a brand, save the draft, check it before approval, bring back an older version, and send it to the owner to approve.

Start from what you have
Read a brand from a link (your site or a social profile), from your files or from a whole brand folder, then use what it found.

Names and words
Suggest names, taglines and words for the brand, and check whether a name is free as a domain and as a social handle. Free, up to a daily limit.
generate_textcheck_names
AI pictures
Draw symbol ideas and art in the brand's style. These spend credits: 1 per symbol idea, 1 per picture, and 2 for a bigger, 2K picture.

Posts
Draw a post from a template (a promotion, opening hours, the menu, a new product, a Pix card) or export one you made in the studio's editor.

Long work
Follow work that takes a while, like AI pictures or a folder import, or stop it.

What it can't do
The app acts as you, with your role in the workspace. It sees only what a tool gives back.
It can't publish. When it asks for approval, the owner gets a request and approves it in the studio in one tap.
It can't delete a brand, change who's on your team, buy credits, or make or delete keys.
Cut an app off
Delete its key in the studio, under API keys. The app stops at once. A signed-in app's key carries the app's name.
Then remove ideare from the app too, so it forgets the key.
What the app sees and what ideare keeps
For programmers
The server speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP: POST only, no session, one JSON answer per request.
Send the key as Authorization: Bearer ideare_.... With no key it answers 401 with a WWW-Authenticate header that points to its OAuth metadata, so an app that speaks OAuth signs in on its own.
The first request, by hand:
curl https://api.ideare.app/mcp \
-H "Authorization: Bearer ideare_your_key" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"get_brand","arguments":{"slug":"crumb-crust"}}}'tools/list gives every tool with its input schema. The same list, with the REST routes, is in the OpenAPI file and in llms-full.txt.
